How to Find Studio
2. How to Get Here/Map
My art studio is accessed by the laneway at the rear of 17 Aideen Avenue, Terenure, Dublin D6W Y635. It's a bit hidden (but it's a gem), I suggest you bring your mobile phone along and call 086 247 0737 if lost.
3. Materials checklist
Bring boards or canvases of around 5"x7" or 7"x7". The aim of this class is to paint small and paint often.
If you're just trying out painting and not certain that you'll continue; get good quality student grade oil paints like Winsor & Newton or Maimeri Classico. For beginners, I recommend Winton Oils -good student quality paint, you can get them everywhere and the colours are consistent). If you're already dedicated to painting; always get Artist quality paints. You can read a more in-depth explanation here.
Essential 5 Colours for beginner painters: (Definitely get these as a priority)
- Winton Cobalt Blue
- Winton Permanent Rose
- Winton Cadmium Yellow Light
- Winton Titanium White (or Titanium buff)
- Winton Burnt Umber
- Winton Ivory Black (or Indigo or Paynes Grey)
Plus the following for an extended palette (Get these once you've become familiar with the above palette).
- Sap green (or Viridian)
- Cadmium Yellow Deep
- Burnt Umber
- Ultramarine Blue
- Cadmium Red
Do bring the following:
- A flat wood painter's palette.
- Bring a little burnt siena watercolour to do your drawing on the canvas.
- Solvent: Zest-it, if you have it).
- Brushes -Synthetic short flat brights: 12 and 6. Also, a Round No. 1. I recommend the Create brand (you can buy a packet of 5 brushes for under €5 in Evans or Eason)
- Rags
- If you like Liquin, bring that too.
- Wear old clothes: painting can be a messy business!

4. Terms and conditions
T&Cs
Signing up for a term of art classes is a 6 week commitment; classes not taken cannot be carried forward to a new term. Terms can not be split up or fees discounted for classes not taken.
When students are unable to make it to a class for whatever reason, I will always endeavour to let them catch up in another art class but only if a place is available.
If I am unable to hold the art class, the class will be made up so students will not be short.
Payment must be made at least 2 weeks before the term begins, in order that a replacement student can be arranged from the waiting list.
Payment matters can not be discussed in the studio; the studio is a sanctuary for art, painting and creativity.
Students should have the required painting materials for the class (please see above).
